Laura was blessed with many close, lovely friends who were supportive of her during her illness. Laura’s pets, Cookie, Noodle and Bruno adored her, and the feeling was mutual. She is also survived by her brother, Brian Downie, his wife Andrea, and their children Erin (Alex), son Wes Elizabeth, and Adam (Nicole) her brother, Kevin Downie, his wife Lindsay, and their children Conor and James her sister, Jennifer and her husband, John Sullivan and their children Emily (Chris), son Luca and Thomas Liane Downie and her children, Sophie and Charlie Downie Allen. In addition to her parents, Laura is survived and much loved by her children, Nicholas and Emma Beazley and her former husband, Edward Beazley. She received the French award, the Chaine des Rotisseurs, in recognition of her passion and love of the culinary arts. She was director of functions notably at The Prince George Hotel in Halifax, for over a decade. Upon her return from France, Laura commenced her career in the hospitality business. She attended the Sacred Heart School, Halifax Public Schools and Saint Mary’s University (B.A.) before studying French at the University of Grenoble, France, where she advanced her love of and expertise in food and entertaining. Laura was born in Halifax, in 1965, a daughter of Ronald J. Laura succumbed to the torment of diffuse scleroderma which she had endured over the past nine years.
